These references to inheritance and bequest originate from a "modern" conception of man. It assumes that the human being is not really the product of another human being. Every single person is founded in him- or herself or in God or whatever. He/she belongs exclusively to him- or herself and all persons must be regarded as equally valuable in their essence.
